Arkansas Wedding Photography

When Lisa contacted me to photograph her upcoming Wedding to Jim, I was so honored. Lisa is an amazing lady and I get the privilege of working for her at ATU. She is not only awesome at her job, she is just an awesome person all around.  I am so thankful she allowed me to document this time in their lives!

I asked Lisa to share how she and Jim first met. Her story is so sweet, and very special.

"Jim and I go back…WAY back to Elementary school. He was one year older than me , but we went to the same schools all the way through graduation.  I am certain I was a little scared of him from the time I met him. He was always that super energetic, funny boy and I was just a shy little girl. He was out sick once at school and our teacher had the class write him get well notes. I mentioned in that note that I hoped he got better soon, but I did NOT want him to chase me when he got back! That was maybe 2nd grade, then our 4th and 5th grade years we were in the same class. He was such a cute boy, but I was a totally awkward girl and really never thought any boy would like me. He was awfully cute…That year we were coming in after recess and I fell on the playground.  He was the only person behind me so naturally I assumed he had PUSHED me down, and I broke my arm. I remember that when I got back to school I had everyone sign my cast EXCEPT him because I was mad he had caused me to break my arm! He will deny this to the day...."

"We drifted through our middle school and junior high school years without much more interaction. I of course knew who he was, and he claims he always thought I was a very pretty girl. We had several mutual friends, but never really interacted with each other.  I mean he was IN a rock band…and I was just in band, ha......Well  after graduation we both went to college (ironically both at Tech). But again no interaction. And the years went by. I had kids, he traveled for work.

Fast forward to 2010. I have been a Facebook junkie since 2007.  I had many, many Facebook friends by 2010.  Jim had resisted Facebook but a friend of his was diagnosed with cancer and really wanted to Jim to get on FB so they could stay in touch easily. So he finally relented and joined up. Jim is really a private guy and resisted putting much information out there. No pictures. No personal information. About three weeks into his FB adventure he saw me pop up on his “maybe you know this person” feed. And he says he thought “wow – she is pretty” and sent a FB friend request. I accepted and promptly wrote on his wall “good to see you on FB!”. I remember the day. It was September 21, 2011.  It was not long before he commented on a picture of mine  and we started talking back and forth. Then we started messaging back and forth. Then I gave him my number and we texted. . I liked him instantly.. seriously. He was so funny and charming and I just genuinely enjoyed talking to him.

From that point on we started talking a LOT. I mean daily. It was just an immediate connection. Again – at this point I still did not know what he looked liked so I pestered him enough that he finally sent me a picture  - at this point we had been talking for 10 days and I was already liking him way more than I should have. And when I got that picture I was like “yep, I’m done!” he was so cute. Weeks and weeks go by and we are still talking pretty much daily. As a matter of a fact we pretty much had a set time to talk each night. I can honestly say I was falling in love with him before we had ever even seen each other in person.  And the feeling was mutual. It was magical. It was divine. I had prayed for this man that treated me with such respect and was so kind and loving. And funny. Jim came home for Thanksgiving that year – this was the first time we saw each other in person after 5 weeks of talking on the phone. That first night I saw him I knew this was something very very special. We spent 10 wonderful days together that November. I remember putting him back on the plane to North Carolina. I wanted to cry so much! And this point we knew we were in love. I went to visit him in December of that year but we really had no idea what we were going to do. I really couldn’t move there - he couldn’t move here without a job. So we really felt our only option was to pray. So pray we did."

"If anyone out there thinks Gods is not listening – let me tell you – he is. In March of 2011 Jim got a phone call out of the blue. From a business that had found an old resume of his on the internet. They wanted to know if he might be interested in moving to Arkansas…He interviewed and by the grace of God he got the job and was able to move home that April. Over the next three years we dated – went through many ups and downs in life but our love and commitment to each other never waned. We really never had a fight. We never broke up. We just loved each other. In November of 2013 we finally decided we were in a place we felt like we could get married so we became engaged.  This past July 26, on my birthday, we were married in front of our friends and family. It was truly one of the happiest moments of my life.

I finally had that cute little blond boy that stood behind me in the class photo."
